I do not see anyone in battle who could break through Śikhaṇḍin with weapons, O king, when he is fully armed and stationed upon his chariot.

In single-chariot combat, no other hero could withstand Bhīṣma, O king, that great-vowed one—except Śikhaṇḍin. Therefore, in my view, he is the commander.

english translation

Yudhiṣṭhira said: “Keśava, righteous-souled, knows everything, dear brother—the essential and the non-essential, the strength and weakness of the whole world, and what has occurred and what will occur.”

english translation

Let Dāśārha Kṛṣṇa—whom you have named—be our commander of the host, whether trained in weapons or untrained, whether old or young.

english translation

This is the root of our success—and, dear one, it also determines its reversal. Here are at stake our lives and our kingdom, gain and loss, happiness and suffering.
