They declare dharma to be the effective means for attaining the three aims of life; by it, one who seeks them grows swiftly—like fire in a thicket.

english translation

Yet you, dear one, seek—by an improper method—an eminent and illustrious overlordship, renowned among all kings, O bull of the Bharatas.

english translation

A person who acts falsely among those who conduct themselves rightly harms his own self—like one who hews a forest with an axe, O king.

english translation

One should not disrupt the judgment of a person who does not wish for defeat; for the steady and resolute, whose purpose is unbroken, directs his mind toward what is beneficial.

english translation

One who has abandoned self-discipline cannot subdue anyone in the three worlds, O Bhārata—how much less those eminent Pāṇḍavas, bulls among men.
