Bṛhaspati said: I will not abandon one who has come for refuge, Indrāṇī—this is my settled resolve. Knowing dharma and practicing dharma, blameless one, I will not abandon you.

english translation

I do not wish to do what is improper—especially being a brāhmaṇa. I am instructed in dharma, devoted to truth, and I understand the discipline of dharma.

english translation

I will not do this. Depart, O best of the gods. In this very matter, hear what was formerly declared by Brahmā.

english translation

For him, seed does not sprout in the season for sowing, nor does rain fall for him in the season for rain. One who hands over a frightened person who has sought refuge to an adversary finds no protection when he himself seeks rescue.

english translation

An undiscerning man gains food in vain and, his endeavor ruined, falls from the heavenly realm. But he who hands over a frightened supplicant who has sought refuge—his sacrificial offerings the gods do not accept.
