That bird, Vinatā’s son, bowed his head in reverence to Viṣṇu; senseless, unsteady, and subdued, he spoke a few words.

english translation

O Blessed One, by an arm whose form befits the very essence of the worlds, laid upon me in effortless freedom, I have been crushed and pressed down upon the earth.

english translation

Forgive me, O God—unsteady and of scant discernment—this bird who abides upon your banner, scorched by the burning heat of his own strength.

english translation

O God, O all-pervading Lord, I did not comprehend your supreme power; therefore I deemed my own prowess unequalled by any other.

english translation

Then the Blessed Lord showed favor to Garutmān; and out of affection he said to him, “Let it not be so again.”
