Going at wind speed, the great monkey Maruthi, remembering Jambavantha's words, reached and sighted the Himalayas. [6-74-56]

नानाप्रस्रवणोपेतंनानाकन्दरनिर्घरम् | श्वेताभ्रचयसङ्काशैशशिखरैश्चारुदर्शनैः | शोभितंविविधैर्वृक्षैरगमत्पर्वतोत्तमम् || ६-७४-५७

He reached the foremost of mountains, which was adorned with different kinds of springs, many caves and cascades and graced with trees. The peaks were like masses of white autumn clouds graced with splendour and beautiful to look at. [6-74-57]

Having approached that great mountain having excellent overbearing summits, he saw great holy hermitages, inhabited by a multitude of divine sages. [6-74-58]

He saw the abode of Brahma the lord of creation, Kailasa the abode of Shiva the lord of dissolution, the abode of Indra the lord of celestials, the arrow-discharging place of Rudra, the worshipping place of Hayagriva, the horse-faced form of Vishnu, the shining place at which Brahma's head fell down, the sun-god and Kimkaras. [6-74-59]

He saw Vajralayam (where Brahma gave Indra the thunderbolt), the abode of Kubera shining like the Sun, the spot where the Sun was bound, Brahma's abode and the abode of the bow of Lord Siva, and the novel of the earth (containing the hole through which one can enter Patala the nethermost subterranean region). [6-74-60]
