[ज] भगवन काम्यकात पार्थे गते मे परपिता महे पाण्डवाः किम अकुर्वन्त तम ऋते सव्यसाचिनम ॥ ३-७९-१ ॥
'Janamejaya inquired, "O revered sage, after my great-grandfather Partha departed from the Kamyaka woods, what did the sons of Pandu do in the absence of that mighty hero, capable of drawing his bow with his left hand?"' ॥ 3-79-1 ॥
english translation
[ja] bhagavana kAmyakAta pArthe gate me parapitA mahe pANDavAH kima akurvanta tama Rte savyasAcinama ॥ 3-79-1 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptस हि तेषां महेष्वासॊ गतिर आसीद अनीकजित आदित्यानां यथा विष्णुस तथैव परतिभाति मे ॥ ३-७९-२ ॥
'It seems to me that their mighty bowman, the conqueror of armies, was their refuge, akin to Vishnu among the celestials.' ॥ 3-79-2 ॥
english translation
sa hi teSAM maheSvAsò gatira AsIda anIkajita AdityAnAM yathA viSNusa tathaiva paratibhAti me ॥ 3-79-2 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतेनेन्द्र समवीर्येण संग्रामेष्व अनिवर्तिना विना भूता वने वीराः कथम आसन पिता महाः ॥ ३-७९-३ ॥
'How did my heroic ancestors spend their time in the forest, deprived of the company of that hero, who resembled Indra himself in prowess and never faltered in battle?' ॥ 3-79-3 ॥
english translation
tenendra samavIryeNa saMgrAmeSva anivartinA vinA bhUtA vane vIrAH kathama Asana pitA mahAH ॥ 3-79-3 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscript[व] गते तु काम्यकात तात पाण्डवे सव्यसाचिनि बभूवुः कौरवेयास ते दुःखशॊकपरायणाः ॥ ३-७९-४ ॥
'Vaisampayana said, "After the unmatched Arjuna departed from Kamyaka, the sons of Pandu, O dear one, were consumed by sorrow and grief."' ॥ 3-79-4 ॥
english translation
[va] gate tu kAmyakAta tAta pANDave savyasAcini babhUvuH kauraveyAsa te duHkhazòkaparAyaNAH ॥ 3-79-4 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptआक्षिप्त सूत्रा मणयश छिन्नपक्षा इव दविजाः अप्रीत मनसः सर्वे बभूवुर अथ पाण्डवाः ॥ ३-७९-५ ॥
'The Pandavas, with hearts heavy with sorrow, resembled unstrung pearls from a garland or birds deprived of their wings.' ॥ 3-79-5 ॥

AkSipta sUtrA maNayaza chinnapakSA iva davijAH aprIta manasaH sarve babhUvura atha pANDavAH ॥ 3-79-5 ॥
