यथा धनंजयः पार्थस तपस्वी नियतव्रतः मुनिर एकचरः शरीमान धर्मॊ विग्रहवान इव ।। ३-७८-२१ ।।

sanskrit

'And Dhananjaya, the son of Pritha, devoted to ascetic austerities with steadfast vows and a focused mind, observing the vow of perfect silence, was, as he heard, akin to the blazing god of justice in his embodied form.' ।। 3-78-21 ।।

english translation

yathA dhanaMjayaH pArthasa tapasvI niyatavrataH munira ekacaraH zarImAna dharmò vigrahavAna iva || 3-78-21 ||

hk transliteration

तं शरुत्वा पाण्डवॊ राजंस तप्यमानं महावने अन्वशॊचत कौन्तेयः परियं वै भरातरं जयम ।। ३-७८-२२ ।।

sanskrit

'And, O king, upon hearing that his beloved brother Jaya, the son of Kunti, was engaged in such intense asceticism in the great forest, Yudhishthira, the son of Pandu, began to mourn for him.' ।। 3-78-22 ।।

english translation

taM zarutvA pANDavò rAjaMsa tapyamAnaM mahAvane anvazòcata kaunteyaH pariyaM vai bharAtaraM jayama || 3-78-22 ||

hk transliteration

दह्यमानेन तु हृदा शरणार्थी महावने बराह्मणान विविधज्ञानान पर्यपृच्छद युधिष्ठिरः ।। ३-७८-२३ ।।

sanskrit

'And with a heart aflame with sorrow, the eldest son of Pandu sought solace in that vast forest, engaging in conversation with the Brahmanas, who were well-versed in various forms of knowledge and resided there with him.' ।। 3-78-23 ।।

english translation

dahyamAnena tu hRdA zaraNArthI mahAvane barAhmaNAna vividhajJAnAna paryapRcchada yudhiSThiraH || 3-78-23 ||
