किं कार्यं सवागतं ते ऽसतु राज्ञा पृष्टश च भारत नाभिजज्ञे स नृपतिर दुहित्रर्थे समागतम ॥ ३-७१-२१ ॥
'Honored by Bhima, King Rituparna scanned the surroundings repeatedly but found no sign of the Swayamvara. The ruler of the Vidarbhas then approached Rituparna.' ॥ 3-71-21 ॥
english translation
ऋतुपर्णॊ ऽपि राजा स धीमान सत्यपराक्रमः राजानं राजपुत्रं वा न सम पश्यति कं चन नैव सवयंवरकथां न च विप्रसमागमम ॥ ३-७१-२२ ॥
'Welcome! What brings you here?’ King Bhima inquired, unaware that Rituparna had come seeking the hand of his daughter. Observing the absence of other kings and princes, the mighty and astute King Rituparna noted the lack of any discourse on the Swayamvara or the gathering of Brahmanas.' ॥ 3-71-22 ॥

ततॊ विगणयन राजा मनसा कॊसलाधिपः आगतॊ ऽसमीत्य उवाचैनं भवन्तम अभिवादकः ॥ ३-७१-२३ ॥
'After a moment of reflection, the ruler of Kosala replied, ‘I have come here to pay my respects to you.’' ॥ 3-71-23 ॥

राजापि च समयन भीमॊ मनसाभिविचिन्तयत अधिकं यॊजनशतं तस्यागमनकारणम ॥ ३-७१-२४ ॥
'And king Bhima was filled with astonishment as he pondered the reason behind Rituparna's arrival, having traveled more than a hundred yojanas.' ॥ 3-71-24 ॥

गरामान बहून अतिक्रम्य नाध्यगच्छद यथातथम अल्पकार्यं विनिर्दिष्टं तस्यागमनकारणम ॥ ३-७१-२५ ॥
'He pondered, 'It is hardly likely that he would pass by other kings and leave behind countless realms merely to pay his respects to me.'' ॥ 3-71-25 ॥
