बृहदश्व उवाच ततॊ विदर्भान संप्राप्तं सायाह्ने सत्यविक्रमम ऋतुपर्णं जना राज्ञे भीमाय परत्यवेदयन ॥ ३-७१-१ ॥
'Vrihadaswa said, "Upon the evening of King Rituparna's arrival in the city of Vidarbha, the people conveyed the news to King Bhima"' ॥ 3-71-1 ॥
english translation
bRhadazva uvAca tatò vidarbhAna saMprAptaM sAyAhne satyavikramama RtuparNaM janA rAjJe bhImAya paratyavedayana ॥ 3-71-1 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptस भीमवचनाद राजा कुण्डिनं पराविशत पुरम नादयन रथघॊषेण सर्वाः सॊपदिशॊ दश ॥ ३-७१-२ ॥
'The people conveyed to King Bhima the news of Rituparna's arrival. Upon Bhima's invitation, the king of Ayodhya entered the city of Kundina, his chariot's rumble resonating across all ten directions of the horizon.' ॥ 3-71-2 ॥
english translation
sa bhImavacanAda rAjA kuNDinaM parAvizata purama nAdayana rathaghòSeNa sarvAH sòpadizò daza ॥ 3-71-2 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptततस तं रथनिर्घॊषं नलाश्वास तत्र शुश्रुवुः शरुत्वा च समहृष्यन्त पुरेव नलसंनिधौ ॥ ३-७१-३ ॥
'The steeds of Nala, present in the city, heard that sound, and upon hearing it, they were filled with delight, recalling the joy they experienced in Nala's presence.' ॥ 3-71-3 ॥
english translation
tatasa taM rathanirghòSaM nalAzvAsa tatra zuzruvuH zarutvA ca samahRSyanta pureva nalasaMnidhau ॥ 3-71-3 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptदमयन्ती च शुश्राव रथघॊषं नलस्य तम यथा मेघस्य नदतॊ गम्भीरं जलदागमे ॥ ३-७१-४ ॥
'And Damayanti, too, heard the sound of Nala's chariot, resonating like the deep rumble of clouds heralding the onset of the rainy season.' ॥ 3-71-4 ॥
english translation
damayantI ca zuzrAva rathaghòSaM nalasya tama yathA meghasya nadatò gambhIraM jaladAgame ॥ 3-71-4 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptनलेन संगृहीतेषु पुरेव नलवाजिषु सदृशं रथनिर्घॊषं मेने भैमी तथा हयाः ॥ ३-७१-५ ॥
'And Bhima, along with Nala’s steeds, perceived the clatter of that chariot as reminiscent of the days of yore when their master, King Nala, himself urged them on.' ॥ 3-71-5 ॥

nalena saMgRhIteSu pureva nalavAjiSu sadRzaM rathanirghòSaM mene bhaimI tathA hayAH ॥ 3-71-5 ॥
