अथापरेद्युः संप्राप्ते हतशिष्टा जनास तदा वनगुल्माद विनिष्क्रम्य शॊचन्तॊ वैशसं कृतम भरातरं पितरं पुत्रं सखायं च जनाधिप ।। ३-६२-११ ।।

'Then, when the next day arrived, the remaining people who had survived, Emerging from the forest thickets, lamenting the carnage that had occurred, [Mourned for their] brother, father, son, and friend, O ruler of men.' ।। 3-62-11 ।।

athAparedyuH saMprApte hataziSTA janAsa tadA vanagulmAda viniSkramya zòcantò vaizasaM kRtama bharAtaraM pitaraM putraM sakhAyaM ca janAdhipa || 3-62-11 ||

'Awakening in fear, Damayanti witnessed the dreadful slaughter around her, which instilled terror in all hearts. The maiden with lotus-like eyes, nearly breathless from fright, rose amidst the chaos. Meanwhile, the unscathed members of the caravan gathered together, questioning, 'What deed of ours has brought about this calamity?'' ।। 3-62-12 ।।

azòcata tatra vaidarbhI kiM nu me duSkRtaM kRtama yò 'pi me nirjane 'raNye saMprAptò 'yaM janArNavaH hatò 'yaM hastiyUthena mandabhAgyAna mamaiva tu || 3-62-12 ||

'Undoubtedly, I must endure sorrow for a very long time. One does not die before their appointed time - so goes the teaching of the elders.' ।। 3-62-13 ।।

'Upon hearing the merchants' dreadful words, Damayanti, filled with terror, shame, and anxiety, fled into the woods, fearing impending doom. Reproaching herself, she lamented, What, then, is the cause of this calamity? Surely, it must be the great sins of my past life that have brought this upon me:' ।। 3-62-14 ।।
