यन नाहम अद्य मृदिता हस्तियूथेन दुःखिता न हय अदैवकृतं किं चिन नराणाम इह विद्यते ॥ ३-६२-१४ ॥
'Upon hearing the merchants' dreadful words, Damayanti, filled with terror, shame, and anxiety, fled into the woods, fearing impending doom. Reproaching herself, she lamented, What, then, is the cause of this calamity? Surely, it must be the great sins of my past life that have brought this upon me:' ॥ 3-62-14 ॥
