अशॊचत तत्र वैदर्भी किं नु मे दुष्कृतं कृतम यॊ ऽपि मे निर्जने ऽरण्ये संप्राप्तॊ ऽयं जनार्णवः हतॊ ऽयं हस्तियूथेन मन्दभाग्यान ममैव तु ।। ३-६२-१२ ।।

sanskrit

'Awakening in fear, Damayanti witnessed the dreadful slaughter around her, which instilled terror in all hearts. The maiden with lotus-like eyes, nearly breathless from fright, rose amidst the chaos. Meanwhile, the unscathed members of the caravan gathered together, questioning, 'What deed of ours has brought about this calamity?'' ।। 3-62-12 ।।

english translation

azòcata tatra vaidarbhI kiM nu me duSkRtaM kRtama yò 'pi me nirjane 'raNye saMprAptò 'yaM janArNavaH hatò 'yaM hastiyUthena mandabhAgyAna mamaiva tu || 3-62-12 ||
