ताम अर्धवस्त्रसंवीतां पीनश्रॊणिपयॊधराम सुकुमारानवद्याङ्गीं पूर्णचन्द्रनिभाननाम ॥ ३-६०-३१ ॥

'And upon seeing that beautiful woman, clad in half a garment, with a deep bosom and rounded hips, her delicate, flawless limbs and face resembling the full moon .' ॥ 3-60-31 ॥

english translation

tAma ardhavastrasaMvItAM pInazròNipayòdharAma sukumArAnavadyAGgIM pUrNacandranibhAnanAma ॥ 3-60-31 ॥

अरालपक्ष्मनयनां तथा मधुरभाषिणीम लक्षयित्वा मृगव्याधः कामस्य वशम एयिवान ॥ ३-६०-३२ ॥

'With eyes adorned by graceful, curved eyelashes and a speech as sweet as honey, the hunter was ignited with desire.' ॥ 3-60-32 ॥

english translation

arAlapakSmanayanAM tathA madhurabhASiNIma lakSayitvA mRgavyAdhaH kAmasya vazama eyivAna ॥ 3-60-32 ॥

ताम अथ शलक्ष्णया वाचा लुब्धकॊ मृदुपुर्वया सान्त्वयाम आस कामार्तस तद अबुध्यत भामिनी ॥ ३-६०-३३ ॥

'Afflicted by the god of love, the huntsman sought to soothe her with a captivating voice and tender words. Yet, as soon as the chaste and beautiful Damayanti recognized his intentions .' ॥ 3-60-33 ॥

tAma atha zalakSNayA vAcA lubdhakò mRdupurvayA sAntvayAma Asa kAmArtasa tada abudhyata bhAminI ॥ 3-60-33 ॥

दमयन्ती तु तं दुष्टम उपलभ्य पतिव्रता तीव्ररॊषसमाविष्टा परजज्वालेव मन्युना ॥ ३-६०-३४ ॥

'But Damayanti, the devoted wife, upon realizing that wicked one, Consumed with intense anger, blazed with fury.' ॥ 3-60-34 ॥

damayantI tu taM duSTama upalabhya pativratA tIvraròSasamAviSTA parajajvAleva manyunA ॥ 3-60-34 ॥

स तु पापमतिः कषुद्रः परधर्षयितुम आतुरः दुर्धर्षां तर्कयाम आस दीप्ताम अग्निशिखाम इव ॥ ३-६०-३५ ॥

'But the wicked-minded wretch, consumed by desire, became enraged and attempted to force himself upon her, who was as unconquerable as a blazing flame.' ॥ 3-60-35 ॥

sa tu pApamatiH kaSudraH paradharSayituma AturaH durdharSAM tarkayAma Asa dIptAma agnizikhAma iva ॥ 3-60-35 ॥
