धरुवं विनाशॊ नृप कौरवाणां; न वै शरेयॊ धृतराष्ट्रः परैति यथा पर्णे पुष्करस्येव सिक्तं; जलं न तिष्ठेत पथ्यम उक्तं तथास्मिन ॥ ३-६-१६ ॥
'Destruction will surely overtake the Kuru race, and Dhritarashtra will never achieve good fortune. Just as water on a lotus leaf does not stay, my counsel will have no effect on Dhritarashtra.' ॥ 3-6-16 ॥

ततः करुद्धॊ धृतराष्ट्रॊ ऽबरवीन मां; यत्र शरद्धा भारत तत्र याहि नाहं भूयः कामये तवां सहायं; महीम इमां पालयितुं पुरं वा ॥ ३-६-१७ ॥
'The enraged Dhritarashtra told me, 'Go wherever you wish; I will no longer seek your advice for ruling the earth or my kingdom.'' ॥ 3-6-17 ॥

सॊ ऽहं तयक्तॊ धृतराष्ट्रेण राजंस; तवां शासितुम उपयातस तवरावान तद वै सर्वं यन मयॊक्तं सभायां; तद धार्यतां यत परवक्ष्यामि भूयः ॥ ३-६-१८ ॥
'O Bharata, forsaken by King Dhritarashtra, I now turn to you to offer my counsel. What I had spoken in the open court, I shall now repeat to you.' ॥ 3-6-18 ॥

कलेशैस तीव्रैर युज्यमानः सपत्नैः; कषमां कुर्वन कालम उपासते यः सं वर्धयन सतॊकम इवाग्निम आत्मवान; स वै भुङ्क्ते पृथिवीम एक एव ॥ ३-६-१९ ॥
'Listen carefully and remember my words. A wise man who endures the wrongs inflicted upon him by his enemies with patience, and who steadily increases his resources—as a small fire gradually becomes a great blaze—ultimately rules the entire earth.' ॥ 3-6-19 ॥

यस्याविभक्तं वसु राजन सहायैस; तस्य दुःखे ऽपय अंशभाजः सहायाः सहायानाम एष संग्रहणे ऽभयुपायः; सहायाप्तौ पृथिवी पराप्तिम आहुः ॥ ३-६-२० ॥
'He who enjoys his prosperity with his supporters finds them to be loyal even in adversity. This is the best way to gain loyal followers, and it is said that one who has loyal adherents wins the sovereignty of the world.' ॥ 3-6-20 ॥
