उक्तं पूर्वं जातमात्रे सुते ते; मया यत ते हितम आसीत तदानीम पुत्रं तयजेमम अहितं कुलस्येत्य; एतद राजन न च तत तवं चकर्थ इदानीं ते हितम उक्तं न चेत तवं; कर्तासि राजन परितप्तासि पश्चात ।। ३-५-११ ।।

sanskrit

'Previously, when your son was born, I advised you to renounce this ill-omened child for the sake of your lineage. But you did not heed my counsel. Nor have I failed to show you the path to your welfare. If you follow my advice now, you will not have cause for regret.' ।। 3-5-11 ।।

english translation

uktaM pUrvaM jAtamAtre sute te; mayA yata te hitama AsIta tadAnIma putraM tayajemama ahitaM kulasyetya; etada rAjana na ca tata tavaM cakartha idAnIM te hitama uktaM na ceta tavaM; kartAsi rAjana paritaptAsi pazcAta || 3-5-11 ||

'If you follow my advice now, you will not have cause for regret. If your son agrees to rule peacefully alongside the Pandavas, you will live in joy without remorse. Otherwise, for your own peace of mind, you must abandon your child.' ।। 3-5-12 ।।

'Set aside Duryodhana and install the son of Pandu as the ruler. Let Ajatasatru, free from passion, govern the earth virtuously. All the kings will then, like commoners, promptly offer their allegiance to us.' ।। 3-5-13 ।।

'Furthermore, let Duryodhana, Sakuni, and Karna readily serve the Pandavas. In the public assembly, let Dussasana seek forgiveness from Bhimasena and the daughter of Drupada.' ।। 3-5-14 ।।
