एतस्य ते दुष्प्रणीतस्य राजञ; शेषस्याहं परिपश्याम्य उपायम यथा पुत्रस तव कौरव्य पापान; मुक्तॊ लॊके परतितिष्ठेत साधु ॥ ३-५-६ ॥

'O King, I see only one way to atone for this great injustice: by ensuring your son repents and thereby regains his standing among good men.' ॥ 3-5-6 ॥

english translation

etasya te duSpraNItasya rAjaJa; zeSasyAhaM paripazyAmya upAyama yathA putrasa tava kauravya pApAna; muktò lòke paratitiSTheta sAdhu ॥ 3-5-6 ॥

तद वै सर्वं पाण्डुपुत्रा लभन्तां; यत तद राजन्न अतिसृष्टं तवयासीत एष धर्मः परमॊ यत सवकेन; राजा तुष्येन अन परस्वेषु गृध्येत ॥ ३-५-७ ॥

'Let the sons of Pandu receive all that was rightfully given to them by you. Indeed, this is the highest morality: a king should be content with what is his own and should never covet the possessions of others.' ॥ 3-5-7 ॥

english translation

tada vai sarvaM pANDuputrA labhantAM; yata tada rAjanna atisRSTaM tavayAsIta eSa dharmaH paramò yata savakena; rAjA tuSyena ana parasveSu gRdhyeta ॥ 3-5-7 ॥

एतत कार्यं तव सर्वप्रधानं; तेषां तुष्टिः शकुनेश चावमानः एवं शेषं यदि पुत्रेषु ते सयाद; एतद राजंस तवरमाणः कुरुष्व ॥ ३-५-८ ॥

'By doing so, you will protect your reputation, prevent family strife, and avoid unrighteousness. Your foremost duty now is to satisfy the Pandavas and disgrace Sakuni.' ॥ 3-5-8 ॥

etata kAryaM tava sarvapradhAnaM; teSAM tuSTiH zakuneza cAvamAnaH evaM zeSaM yadi putreSu te sayAda; etada rAjaMsa tavaramANaH kuruSva ॥ 3-5-8 ॥

अथैतद एवं न करॊषि राजन; धरुवं कुरूणां भविता विनाशः न हि करुद्धॊ भीमसेनॊ ऽरजुनॊ वा; शेषं कुर्याच छात्रवाणाम अनीके ॥ ३-५-९ ॥

'If you wish to restore your sons' lost fortunes, O King, act swiftly and adopt this course of action. Otherwise, the Kurus are bound to face destruction, for neither Bhimasena nor Arjuna will spare their enemies if angered.' ॥ 3-5-9 ॥

athaitada evaM na karòSi rAjana; dharuvaM kurUNAM bhavitA vinAzaH na hi karuddhò bhImasenò 'rajunò vA; zeSaM kuryAca chAtravANAma anIke ॥ 3-5-9 ॥

येषां यॊद्धा सव्यसाची कृतास्त्रॊ; धनुर येषां पाण्डिवं लॊकसारम येषां भीमॊ बाहुशाली च यॊद्धा; तेषां लॊके किं नु न पराप्यम अस्ति ॥ ३-५-१० ॥

'What in the world is beyond the reach of those whose warriors include Savyasachi, skilled in arms, who wield the Gandiva, the mightiest of bows, and Bhima, the formidable fighter?' ॥ 3-5-10 ॥

yeSAM yòddhA savyasAcI kRtAstrò; dhanura yeSAM pANDivaM lòkasArama yeSAM bhImò bAhuzAlI ca yòddhA; teSAM lòke kiM nu na parApyama asti ॥ 3-5-10 ॥
