तं दृष्ट्वा परहरिष्यन्तं फल्गुनं दृष्ठ धन्व्विनम किरात रूपी सहसा वारयाम आस शंकरः ॥ ३-४०-११ ॥
'Seeing the resolute bowman, Phalguna, about to slay the boar, Sankara, in the guise of a Kirata, suddenly intervened and said:' ॥ 3-40-11 ॥
english translation
taM dRSTvA parahariSyantaM phalgunaM dRSTha dhanvvinama kirAta rUpI sahasA vArayAma Asa zaMkaraH ॥ 3-40-11 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptमयैष परार्थितः पूर्वं नीलमेघसमप्रभः अनादृत्यैव तद वाक्यं परजहाराथ फल्गुनः ॥ ३-४०-१२ ॥
'Although the figure, dark as the mountain of Indrakila, had claimed that he aimed at the boar first, Phalguna disregarded these words and struck the boar.' ॥ 3-40-12 ॥
english translation
mayaiSa parArthitaH pUrvaM nIlameghasamaprabhaH anAdRtyaiva tada vAkyaM parajahArAtha phalgunaH ॥ 3-40-12 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptकिरातश च समं तस्मिन्न एकलक्ष्ये महाद्युतिः परमुमॊचाशनि परख्यं शरम अग्निशिखॊपमम ॥ ३-४०-१३ ॥
'The Kirata, too, with blazing splendor, released an arrow that was like a flaming fire and resembled a thunderbolt, aimed at the same target.' ॥ 3-40-13 ॥

kirAtaza ca samaM tasminna ekalakSye mahAdyutiH paramumòcAzani parakhyaM zarama agnizikhòpamama ॥ 3-40-13 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतौ मुक्तौ सायकौ ताभ्यां समं तत्र निपेततुः मूकस्य गात्रे विस्तीर्णे शैलसंहनने तदा ॥ ३-४०-१४ ॥
'Both arrows, shot simultaneously, struck the broad and adamantine body of Muka at the same instant.' ॥ 3-40-14 ॥

tau muktau sAyakau tAbhyAM samaM tatra nipetatuH mUkasya gAtre vistIrNe zailasaMhanane tadA ॥ 3-40-14 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptयथाशनिविनिष्पेषॊ वज्रस्येव च पर्वते तथा तयॊः संनिपातः शरयॊर अभवत तदा ॥ ३-४०-१५ ॥
'The two shafts struck the boar with a thunderous noise, akin to Indra’s thunderbolt and the thunder of clouds crashing together upon the face of a mountain.' ॥ 3-40-15 ॥

yathAzaniviniSpeSò vajrasyeva ca parvate tathA tayòH saMnipAtaH zarayòra abhavata tadA ॥ 3-40-15 ॥
