कषणेन तद वनं सर्वं निःशब्दम अभवत तदा नादः परस्रवणानां च पक्षिणां चाप्य उपारमत ॥ ३-४०-६ ॥
'O King, that region suddenly erupted in beauty with the arrival of the supreme deity and his divine entourage. Shortly thereafter, a profound stillness enveloped the place; the sounds of springs, streams, and birds ceased abruptly.' ॥ 3-40-6 ॥
english translation
kaSaNena tada vanaM sarvaM niHzabdama abhavata tadA nAdaH parasravaNAnAM ca pakSiNAM cApya upAramata ॥ 3-40-6 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptस संनिकर्णम आगम्य पार्थस्याक्लिष्ट कर्मणः मूकं नाम दितेः पुत्रं ददर्शाद्भुतदर्शनम ॥ ३-४०-७ ॥
'As the supreme deity approached the blameless son of Pritha, he beheld a remarkable sight: a Danava named Muka.' ॥ 3-40-7 ॥
english translation
sa saMnikarNama Agamya pArthasyAkliSTa karmaNaH mUkaM nAma diteH putraM dadarzAdbhutadarzanama ॥ 3-40-7 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptवाराहं रूपम आस्थाय तर्कयन्तम इवार्जुनम हन्तुं परमदुष्टात्मा तम उवाचाथ फल्गुनः ॥ ३-४०-८ ॥
'Taking the form of a boar, as if reasoning with Arjuna, Then Phalguna (Arjuna) spoke to him, the extremely wicked-souled one, to slay.' ॥ 3-40-8 ॥

vArAhaM rUpama AsthAya tarkayantama ivArjunama hantuM paramaduSTAtmA tama uvAcAtha phalgunaH ॥ 3-40-8 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptगाण्डीवं धनुर आदाय शरांश चाशीविषॊपमान सज्यं धनुर्वरं कृत्वा जयाघॊषेण निनादयन ॥ ३-४०-९ ॥
'Phalguna took up the Gandiva and a quiver of arrows as deadly as venomous serpents. Drawing his bow and filling the air with its resonant twang, prepared for battle.' ॥ 3-40-9 ॥

gANDIvaM dhanura AdAya zarAMza cAzIviSòpamAna sajyaM dhanurvaraM kRtvA jayAghòSeNa ninAdayana ॥ 3-40-9 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptयन मां परार्थयसे हन्तुम अनागसम इहागतम तस्मात तवां पूर्वम एवाहं नेष्यामि यमसादनम ॥ ३-४०-१० ॥
'I have come here without causing you any harm. Since you seek to kill me, I shall surely send you to the abode of Yama.' ॥ 3-40-10 ॥

yana mAM parArthayase hantuma anAgasama ihAgatama tasmAta tavAM pUrvama evAhaM neSyAmi yamasAdanama ॥ 3-40-10 ॥
