धर्मं चार्थं च कामं च यथावद वदतां वर विभज्य काले कालज्ञः सर्वान सेवेत पण्डितः ॥ ३-३४-४१ ॥
'And, O foremost of speakers, those who are wise and well-versed in the appropriate allocation of time pursue all three—virtue, wealth, and pleasure—each in its due season.' ॥ 3-34-41 ॥
english translation
मॊक्षॊ वा परमं शरेय एष राजन सुखार्थिनाम पराप्तिर वा बुद्धिम आस्थाय सॊपायं कुरुनन्दन ॥ ३-३४-४२ ॥
'O son of the Kuru dynasty, you should determine, after careful consideration, whether achieving independence from or acquiring these three—virtue, wealth, and pleasure—is better for those seeking happiness.' ॥ 3-34-42 ॥
english translation
तद वाशु करियतां राजन पराप्तिर वाप्य अधिगम्यताम जीवितं हय आतुरस्येव दुःखम अन्तरवर्तिनः ॥ ३-३४-४३ ॥
'Quickly do what needs to be done, O King, and attain what is to be attained. For life, like that of a sick person, is filled with inner suffering.' ॥ 3-34-43 ॥

विदितश चैव ते धर्मः सततं चरितश च ते जानते तवयि शंसन्ति सुहृदः कर्मचॊदनाम ॥ ३-३४-४४ ॥

'Charity, sacrifice, reverence for the wise, study of the Vedas, and honesty—these, O king, represent the highest virtue and are effective both in this life and the next.' ॥ 3-34-45 ॥
