कर्तव्यं तव एव कर्मेति मनॊर एष विनिश्चयः एकान्तेन हय अनीहॊ ऽयं पराभवति पूरुषः ॥ ३-३३-३६ ॥
'Your duty is indeed to act" - this is the determination of Manu. For a person who is completely inactive certainly falls into disgrace.' ॥ 3-33-36 ॥
english translation
कुर्वतॊ हि भवत्य एव परायेणेह युधिष्ठिर एकान्तफलसिद्धिं तु न विन्दत्य अलसः कव चित ॥ ३-३३-३७ ॥
'O Yudhishthira, one who does not act will certainly fail. Success generally comes to those who take action, while the idle never achieve it.' ॥ 3-33-37 ॥
english translation
असंभवे तव अस्य हेतुः परायश्चित्तं तु लक्ष्यते कृते कर्मणि राजेन्द्र तथानृण्यम अवाप्यते ॥ ३-३३-३८ ॥
'If it's impossible (to fulfill one's duty), the cause is usually seen as atonement. When the action is performed, O king, freedom from debt is thus attained.' ॥ 3-33-38 ॥

अलक्ष्मीर आविशत्य एनं शयानम अलसं नरम निःसंशयं फलं लब्ध्वा दक्षॊ भूतिम उपाश्नुते ॥ ३-३३-३९ ॥
'The idle, who remains inactive, is often beset by misfortunes, while the industrious and skilled are assured of success and prosperity.' ॥ 3-33-39 ॥

अनर्थं संशयावस्थं वृण्वते मुक्तसंशयाः धीरा नराः कर्म रता न तु निःसंशयं कव चित ॥ ३-३३-४० ॥
'O King, when a person works diligently, even if he does not achieve success, he clears his debts to the gods. Conversely, an idle person, who shirks from effort, will face adversity. An active and skilled individual, however, is destined to succeed and attain prosperity.' ॥ 3-33-40 ॥
