[वै] ददानीत्य एव भगवान उत्तरं परत्यपद्यत भूयॊ चाश्वासयाम आस कौन्तेयं सत्यविक्रमम ॥ ३-२९८-१६ ॥
'Vaiśampāyana continued: "Thereupon that worshipful one replied, ‘I grant thee this boon!’ Then, reassuring Kunti’s son—whose very prowess is truth."' ॥ 3-298-16 ॥

यद्य अपि सवेन रूपेण चरिष्यथ महीम इमाम न वॊ विज्ञास्यते कश चित तरिषु लॊकेषु भारत ॥ ३-२९८-१७ ॥
'He said: ‘Even if you, O Bharata, were to roam the whole earth in your true forms, none in the three worlds would recognise you.'' ॥ 3-298-17 ॥
english translation
वर्षं तरयॊदशं चेदं मत्प्रसादात कुरूर्वहाः विराटनगरे गूढा अविज्ञाताश चरिष्यथ ॥ ३-२९८-१८ ॥
'He said: ‘Even if you, O Bharata, were to roam the whole earth in your true forms, none in the three worlds would recognise you.'' ॥ 3-298-18 ॥

यद वः संकल्पितं रूपं मनसा यस्य यादृशम तादृशं तादृशं सर्वे छन्दतॊ धारयिष्यथ ॥ ३-२९८-१९ ॥
'Vaisampayana continued: Thereupon, that worshipful one replied, “I grant you this boon!” And then, reassuring Kunti's son—whose strength lay in his truthfulness—he added, “Even if you, O Bharata, roam this entire earth in your own true forms, none in the three worlds shall be able to recognize you.”' ॥ 3-298-19 ॥

अरिणी सहितं चेदं बराह्मणाय परयच्छत जिज्ञासार्थं मया हय एतद आहृतं मृगरूपिणा ॥ ३-२९८-२० ॥
'O perpetuators of the Kuru race, by my grace, you shall spend this thirteenth year in secret and unrecognized, in the kingdom of Virata. Moreover, each of you shall be able to assume any form you desire, at will. Now, return the fire-sticks to the Brahmana—they were taken only as a means to test you, when I came in the guise of a deer.' ॥ 3-298-20 ॥
