[वै] ततस ते यक्षवचनाद उदतिष्ठन्त पाण्डवाः कषुत्पिपासे च सर्वेषां कषणे तस्मिन वयगच्छताम ।। ३-२९८-१ ।।

sanskrit

'[Vaiśampāyana said:] "Then, at the command of the Yaksha, the Pandavas rose up, and in that very moment, the hunger and thirst of all of them vanished."' ।। 3-298-1 ।।

english translation

[vai] tatasa te yakSavacanAda udatiSThanta pANDavAH kaSutpipAse ca sarveSAM kaSaNe tasmina vayagacchatAma || 3-298-1 ||

[य] रसस्य एकेन पादेन तिष्ठन्तम अपराजितम पृच्छामि कॊ भवान देवॊ न मे यक्षॊ मतॊ भवान ।। ३-२९८-२ ।।

sanskrit

'Thereupon Yudhishthira said: "O you who stand unwavering on one leg in this lake, unconquerable in might—I ask, what god are you? For surely, I cannot believe you to be a mere Yaksha."' ।। 3-298-2 ।।

english translation

[ya] rasasya ekena pAdena tiSThantama aparAjitama pRcchAmi kò bhavAna devò na me yakSò matò bhavAna || 3-298-2 ||

वसूनां वा भवान एकॊ रुद्राणाम अथ वा भवान अथ वा मरुतां शरेष्ठॊ वर्जी वा तरिदशेश्वरः ।। ३-२९८-३ ।।

sanskrit

'Art thou the foremost of the Vasus, or one of the Rudras? Or art thou the chief among the Maruts, or the Lord of the celestials himself—the wielder of the thunderbolt?' ।। 3-298-3 ।।

english translation

vasUnAM vA bhavAna ekò rudrANAma atha vA bhavAna atha vA marutAM zareSThò varjI vA taridazezvaraH || 3-298-3 ||

मम हि भरातर इमे सहस्रशतयॊधिनः न तं यॊगं परपश्यामि येन सयुर विनिपातिताः ।। ३-२९८-४ ।।

sanskrit

'Each of these brothers of mine is capable of contending with a hundred thousand warriors. I see not the being who could have struck them all down!' ।। 3-298-4 ।।

english translation

mama hi bharAtara ime sahasrazatayòdhinaH na taM yògaM parapazyAmi yena sayura vinipAtitAH || 3-298-4 ||

सुखं परतिविबुद्धानाम इन्द्रियाण्य उपलक्षये स भवान सुहृद अस्माकम अथ वा नः पिता भवान ।। ३-२९८-५ ।।

sanskrit

'And yet, their senses now appear restored, as if they had awakened gently from a deep slumber. Who art thou? A well-wisher of ours—or perhaps our very father in disguise?' ।। 3-298-5 ।।

english translation

sukhaM parativibuddhAnAma indriyANya upalakSaye sa bhavAna suhRda asmAkama atha vA naH pitA bhavAna || 3-298-5 ||
