[यक्स] अहं ते जनकस तात धर्मॊ मृदु पराक्रम तवां दिदृक्षुर अनुप्राप्तॊ विद्धि मां भरतर्षभ ।। ३-२९८-६ ।।

'At this, the Yaksha replied: "O dear child, I am indeed thy father—Dharma, the Lord of Justice, endowed with great power. Know, O bull among the Bharatas, that I came here longing to behold thee!"' ।। 3-298-6 ।।

[yaksa] ahaM te janakasa tAta dharmò mRdu parAkrama tavAM didRkSura anuprAptò viddhi mAM bharatarSabha || 3-298-6 ||

यशॊ सत्यं दमः शौचम आर्जवं हरीर अचापलम दानं तपॊ बरह्मचर्यम इत्य एतास तनवॊ मम ।। ३-२९८-७ ।।

'Fame, truth, self-restraint, purity, candour, modesty, steadiness, charity, austerity, and brahmacharya (celibacy)—these are my very limbs.' ।। 3-298-7 ।।

yazò satyaM damaH zaucama ArjavaM harIra acApalama dAnaM tapò barahmacaryama itya etAsa tanavò mama || 3-298-7 ||

अहिंसा समता शान्तिस तपॊ शौचम अमत्सरः दवाराण्य एतानि मे विद्धि परियॊ हय असि सदा मम ।। ३-२९८-८ ।।

'And abstention from injury, impartiality, inner peace, penance, sanctity, and freedom from malice—these are the doors through which I may be approached. And know this too, O dear one—you are ever beloved to me.' ।। 3-298-8 ।।

ahiMsA samatA zAntisa tapò zaucama amatsaraH davArANya etAni me viddhi pariyò haya asi sadA mama || 3-298-8 ||

दिष्ट्या पञ्चसु रक्तॊ ऽसि दिष्ट्या ते षट्पदी जिता दवे पूर्वे मध्यमे दवे च दवे चान्ते साम्परायिके ।। ३-२९८-९ ।।

'Thou art ever dear to me! By good fortune, thou art devoted to the five; and by good fortune again, thou hast conquered the six. Of these six, two manifest in the early part of life, two in the middle, and the last two at the end—guiding men toward the next world.' ।। 3-298-9 ।।

diSTyA paJcasu raktò 'si diSTyA te SaTpadI jitA dave pUrve madhyame dave ca dave cAnte sAmparAyike || 3-298-9 ||

धर्मॊ ऽहम अस्मि भद्रं ते जिज्ञासुस तवम इहागतः आनृशंस्येन तुष्टॊ ऽसमि वरं दास्यामि ते ऽनघ ।। ३-२९८-१० ।।

'I am, may blessings be upon thee, the Lord of Justice. I came hither to test thy virtue. Well pleased am I, O sinless one, to witness thy blameless conduct. Therefore, I shall grant thee boons.' ।। 3-298-10 ।।

dharmò 'hama asmi bhadraM te jijJAsusa tavama ihAgataH AnRzaMsyena tuSTò 'sami varaM dAsyAmi te 'nagha || 3-298-10 ||
