वरं वृणीष्व राजेन्द्र दाता हय अस्मि तवानघ ये हि मे पुरुषा भक्ता न तेषाम अस्ति दुर्गतिः ॥ ३-२९८-११ ॥
'Ask what thou wilt, O foremost of kings—I shall surely bestow it upon thee. They who revere me never fall into misfortune.' ॥ 3-298-11 ॥
english translation
[य] अरणी सहितं यस्य मृग आदाय गच्छति तस्याग्नयॊ न लुप्येरन परथमॊ ऽसतु वरॊ मम ॥ ३-२९८-१२ ॥
'A deer was carrying away the Brahmana’s fire-sticks. Therefore, the first boon I ask is this—may that Brahmana’s worship of Agni never be interrupted!' ॥ 3-298-12 ॥
english translation
[धर्म] अरणी सहितं तस्य बराह्मणस्य हृतं मया मृगवेषेण कौन्तेय जिज्ञासार्थं तव परभॊ ॥ ३-२९८-१३ ॥
'The Yaksha (Dharma) replied: "O radiant son of Kunti, it was I who, assuming the form of a deer, carried away that Brahmana’s fire-sticks—only to test thee!"' ॥ 3-298-13 ॥

[वै] ददानीत्य एव भवगान उत्तरं परत्यपद्यत अन्यं वरय भद्रं ते वरं तवम अमरॊपम ॥ ३-२९८-१४ ॥
'Vaiśampāyana continued: "Thereupon that worshipful one said, 'I grant thee this boon! Blessings upon thee, O thou who art like unto an immortal. Ask now another boon.'' ॥ 3-298-14 ॥

[य] वर्षाणि दवादशारण्ये तरयॊदशम उपस्थितम तत्र नॊ नाभिजानीयुर वसतॊ मनुजाः कव चित ॥ ३-२९८-१५ ॥
'Yudhishthira said: 'We have spent these twelve years in the forest, and now the thirteenth year has arrived. Grant, I pray, that as we spend this year in concealment, none may recognise us.'' ॥ 3-298-15 ॥
