[सूर्य] अदित्या कुण्डले राज्ञि दत्ते मे मत्तकाशिनि ते ऽसय दास्यामि वै भीरु वर्म चैवेदम उत्तमम ॥ ३-२९१-२१ ॥

'Then Surya spoke: ‘O princess, O virtuous maiden, these earrings were gifted to me by Aditi herself. O modest one, I shall bestow them, and this peerless armor as well, upon the son born of you.’' ॥ 3-291-21 ॥

english translation

[sUrya] adityA kuNDale rAjJi datte me mattakAzini te 'saya dAsyAmi vai bhIru varma caivedama uttamama ॥ 3-291-21 ॥

[पृथा] परमं भवगन देव संगमिष्ये तवया सह यदि पुत्रॊ भवेद एवं यथा वदसि गॊपते ॥ ३-२९१-२२ ॥

'Kunti then said: "So be it, O worshipful one! If, O lord of light, my son shall indeed be as you have described, then I shall, as you desire, unite with you."' ॥ 3-291-22 ॥

[pRthA] paramaM bhavagana deva saMgamiSye tavayA saha yadi putrò bhaveda evaM yathA vadasi gòpate ॥ 3-291-22 ॥

[वै] तथेत्य उक्त्वा तु तां कुन्तीम आविशेष विहंगमः सवर्भानु शत्रुर यॊगात्मा नाभ्यां पस्पर्श चैव ताम ॥ ३-२९१-२३ ॥

'Vaiśampāyana continued: "Hearing her words, Surya replied, ‘So be it!’ And then that ranger of the skies—the enemy of Swarbhānu, his soul immersed in Yoga—entered into Kunti in a radiant form and touched her gently at the navel."' ॥ 3-291-23 ॥

english translation

[vai] tathetya uktvA tu tAM kuntIma AvizeSa vihaMgamaH savarbhAnu zatrura yògAtmA nAbhyAM pasparza caiva tAma ॥ 3-291-23 ॥

ततः सा विह्वलेवासीत कन्या सूर्यस्य तेजसा पपाताथ च सा देवी शयने मूढ चेतना ॥ ३-२९१-२४ ॥

'At this, the maiden was overwhelmed by the energy of Surya and became utterly stupefied. That revered lady then sank onto her bed, her senses lost in the blaze of divine power.' ॥ 3-291-24 ॥

tataH sA vihvalevAsIta kanyA sUryasya tejasA papAtAtha ca sA devI zayane mUDha cetanA ॥ 3-291-24 ॥

[सूर्य] साधयिष्यामि सुश्रॊणि पुत्रं वै जनयिष्यसि सर्वशस्त्रभृतां शरेष्ठं कन्या चैव भविष्यसि ॥ ३-२९१-२५ ॥

'Surya then said to her: "I shall now depart, O thou of graceful hips. You shall give birth to a son who will become the foremost among all wielders of weapons—yet you shall remain a virgin."' ॥ 3-291-25 ॥

[sUrya] sAdhayiSyAmi suzròNi putraM vai janayiSyasi sarvazastrabhRtAM zareSThaM kanyA caiva bhaviSyasi ॥ 3-291-25 ॥
