यत परियं च दविजस्यास्य हितं चैव तवानघ यतिष्यामि तथा राजन वयेतु ते मानसॊ जवरः ॥ ३-२८८-६ ॥
'What pleases this Brahmana and what brings you benefit, O sinless king, I shall endeavour to accomplish. Let the anguish of your mind be put to rest.' ॥ 3-288-6 ॥
english translation
बराह्मणा हि महाभागाः पूजिताः पृथिवीपते तारणाय समर्थाः सयुर विपरीते वधाय च ॥ ३-२८८-७ ॥
'For indeed, O King, the highly blessed Brahmanas, when revered, possess the power to protect; but when dishonoured, they are equally capable of destruction.' ॥ 3-288-7 ॥
english translation
साहम एतद विजानन्ती तॊषयिष्ये दविजॊत्तमम न मत्कृते वयथां राजन पराप्स्यसि दविजसत्तमात ॥ ३-२८८-८ ॥
'Knowing this, I will ensure that the best of Brahmanas is well pleased. O King, rest assured — you shall suffer no distress from him on my account.' ॥ 3-288-8 ॥
english translation
अपराधे हि राजेन्द्र राज्ञाम अश्रेयसे दविजाः भवन्ति चयवनॊ यद्वत सुकन्यायाः कृते पुरा ॥ ३-२८८-९ ॥
'For truly, O king of kings, when rulers transgress, it is then that Brahmanas become the instruments of their downfall — as Chyavana did, provoked by the deed of Sukanya.' ॥ 3-288-9 ॥
english translation
नियमेन परेणाहम उपस्थास्ये दविजॊत्तमम यथा तवया नरेन्द्रेदं भाषितं बराह्मणं परति ॥ ३-२८८-१० ॥
'Therefore, O King, I shall, with utmost regularity and devotion, attend upon that foremost of Brahmanas, in full accordance with your instructions regarding him. And when she had thus spoken at length, the king embraced her with affection and offered words of comfort.' ॥ 3-288-10 ॥
