बराह्मणा हि परं तेजॊ बराह्मणा हि परंतपः बराह्मणानां नमः कारैर सूर्यॊ दिवि विराजते ॥ ३-२८७-१६ ॥
'A Brahmana embodies supreme energy and the highest ascetic virtue. It is through the virtuous deeds of Brahmanas that the Sun shines brilliantly in the heavens.' ॥ 3-287-16 ॥
english translation
अमानयन हि मानार्हान वातापिश च महासुरः निहतॊ बरह्मदण्डेन तालजङ्घस तथैव च ॥ ३-२८७-१७ ॥
'Because of their disrespect toward Brahmanas worthy of honor, the mighty Asura Vātāpi, along with Talajaṅgha, was destroyed by the curse of the Brahmanas.' ॥ 3-287-17 ॥
english translation
सॊ ऽयं वत्से महाभार आहितस तवयि सांप्रतम तवं सदा नियता कुर्या बराह्मणस्याभिराधनम ॥ ३-२८७-१८ ॥
'For the present, O child, a highly virtuous Brahmana of that order is entrusted to your care. You should always serve this Brahmana with devoted attention.' ॥ 3-287-18 ॥
english translation
जानामि परणिधानं ते बाल्यात परभृति नन्दिनि बराह्मणेष्व इह सर्वेषु गुरु बन्धुषु चैव ह ॥ ३-२८७-१९ ॥
'I know, from your childhood and beyond, O Nandinī, that you have always been devoted— to all Brahmanas, teachers, and relatives here.' ॥ 3-287-19 ॥
english translation
तथा परेष्येषु सर्वेषु मित्र संबन्धिमातृषु मयि चैव यथावत तवं सर्वम आदृत्य वर्तसे ॥ ३-२८७-२० ॥
'Likewise, you have conducted yourself properly toward all others—friends, relatives, and mothers alike— and toward me as well, in every respect.' ॥ 3-287-20 ॥
