जहीमान राक्षसान पापान आत्मनः परतिरूपकान जघान रामस तांश चान्यान आत्मनः परतिरूपकान ॥ ३-२७४-११ ॥
'"Slay these Rakshasas, those wretches who have assumed thy form!" Thus urged, Rama swiftly struck down those illusion-born fiends and many others who bore his likeness.' ॥ 3-274-11 ॥
english translation
ततॊ हर्यश्व युक्तेन रथेनादित्यवर्चसा उपतस्थे रणे रामं मातलिः शक्रसारथिः ॥ ३-२७४-१२ ॥
'And at that moment, Matali, the charioteer of Indra, approached Rama on the battlefield, driving a chariot radiant as the sun, drawn by tawny-hued steeds.' ॥ 3-274-12 ॥
english translation
[मातलि] अयं हर्यश्व युग जैत्रॊ मघॊनः सयन्दनॊत्तमः अनेन शक्रः काकुत्स्थ समरे दैत्यदानवान शतशः पुरुषव्याघ्र रथॊदारेण जघ्निवा ॥ ३-२७४-१३ ॥
'And Matali said, 'O scion of Kakutstha’s race, behold this splendid and triumphant chariot, yoked to a pair of tawny steeds, the pride of the Lord of the celestials! Upon this very chariot, O tiger among men, Indra has vanquished in battle hundreds of Daityas and Danavas!'' ॥ 3-274-13 ॥

तद अनेन नरव्याघ्र मया यत तेन संयुगे सयन्दनेन जहि कषिप्रं रावणं माचिरं कृथाः ॥ ३-२७४-१४ ॥
'Therefore, O tiger among men, ascend this chariot with me and swiftly slay Ravana in battle! Waste no time!' ॥ 3-274-14 ॥

इत्य उक्तॊ राघवस तथ्यं वचॊ ऽशङ्कत मातलेः मायेयं राक्षसस्येति तम उवाच विभीषणः ॥ ३-२७४-१५ ॥
'O Rama, this is not an illusion of the Rakshasa! This indeed is Matali, the charioteer of Indra, who has come here of his own accord. Ascend this celestial car and swiftly put an end to Ravana!' ॥ 3-274-15 ॥
