कषीयतां दुष्कृतं कर्म वनवास कृतं तव भार्या मे भव सुश्रॊणि यथा मन्दॊदरी तथा ॥ ३-२६५-१६ ॥

'Let all your troubles, arising from your life in the forest, come to an end! O lady of beautiful hips, be my queen, just as Mandodari is!' ॥ 3-265-16 ॥

english translation

इत्य उक्ता तेन वैदेही परिवृत्य शुभानना तृणम अन्तरतः कृत्वा तम उवाच निशाचरम ॥ ३-२६५-१७ ॥

'Thus addressed by him, the beautiful princess of Videha, turning away and considering him as insignificant as a blade of grass, replied to that night-wanderer.' ॥ 3-265-17 ॥

english translation

अशिवेनातिवामॊरुर अजस्रं नेत्रवारिणा सतनाव अपतितौ बाला सहिताव अभिवर्षती उवाच वाक्यं तं कषुद्रं वैदेही पतिदेवता ॥ ३-२६५-१८ ॥

'The young maiden with beautiful thighs, devoted to her husband, Continuously shed tears from her eyes, Her breasts wet with falling tears. And Vaidehi (Sita) spoke these harsh words .' ॥ 3-265-18 ॥

english translation

असकृद वदतॊ वाक्यम ईदृशं राक्षसेश्वर विषादयुक्तम एतत ते मया शरुतम अभाग्यया ॥ ३-२६५-१९ ॥

'O Lord of Rakshasas (Ravana), Again and again you speak such words, And I, unfortunate one, have heard these Grief-bringing words of yours.' ॥ 3-265-19 ॥

english translation

तद भद्र सुखभद्रं ते मानसं विनिवर्त्यताम परदारास्म्य अलभ्या च सततं च पतिव्रता ॥ ३-२६५-२० ॥

'I am the wife of another, ever devoted to my husband, and therefore cannot be possessed by you!' ॥ 3-265-20 ॥
