न चैवौपयिकी भार्या मानुषी कृपणा तव विवशां धर्षयित्वा च कां तवं परीतिम अवाप्स्यसि ॥ ३-२६५-२१ ॥

'A helpless human being that I am, I cannot be a suitable wife for you! What joy can you find in using violence against an unwilling woman?' ॥ 3-265-21 ॥

english translation

परजापतिसमॊ विप्रॊ बरह्मयॊनिः पिता तव न च पालयसे धर्मं लॊकपालसमः कथम ॥ ३-२६५-२२ ॥

'Your father is a wise Brahmana, born of Brahma, and is equal to the Lord of Creation himself! Why, then, do you, being like a Regent of the Universe, not observe virtue?' ॥ 3-265-22 ॥

english translation

भरातरं राजराजानं महेश्वर सखं परभुम धनेश्वरं वयपदिशन कथं तव इह न लज्जसे ॥ ३-२६५-२३ ॥

'By disgracing your brother, the king of the Yakshas, the beloved friend of Maheswara himself, the lord of treasures, how is it that you feel no shame?' ॥ 3-265-23 ॥

english translation

इत्य उक्त्वा परारुदत सीता कम्पयन्ती पयॊधरौ शिरॊधरां च तन्व अङ्गी मुखं परच्छाद्य वाससा ॥ ३-२६५-२४ ॥

'Having spoken these words, Sita began to weep, her bosom trembling in agitation, and she covered her neck and face with her garments.' ॥ 3-265-24 ॥

english translation

तस्या रुदत्या भामिन्या दीर्घा वेणी सुसंयता ददृशे सवसिता सनिग्धा लाकी वयालीव मूर्धनि ॥ ३-२६५-२५ ॥

'The long, well-knitted braid, black and glossy, falling from the head of the weeping lady, looked like a black snake.' ॥ 3-265-25 ॥
