सैन्धवस तु हतान दृष्ट्वा तथाश्वान सवान सुदुःखितः दृष्ट्वा विक्रमकर्माणि कुर्वाणं च धनंजयम पलायनकृतॊत्साहः पराद्रवद येन वै वनम ॥ ३-२५५-५६ ॥
'Stricken with grief at the loss of his steeds and witnessing Arjuna’s astounding prowess, he panicked and fled along the same forest path by which he had come.' ॥ 3-255-56 ॥
english translation
सैन्धवं तवाभिसंप्रेक्ष्य पराक्रान्तं पलायने अनुयाय महाबाहुः फल्गुनॊ वाक्यम अब्रवीत ॥ ३-२५५-५७ ॥
'Beholding the Sindhu prince fleeing in desperation, the mighty-armed Phalguna pursued him and spoke these words.' ॥ 3-255-57 ॥
english translation
अनेन वीर्येण कथं सत्रियं परार्थयसे बलात राजपुत्र निवर्तस्व न ते युक्तं पलायनम कथं चानुचरान हित्वा शत्रुमध्ये पलायसे ॥ ३-२५५-५८ ॥
'With so little valor, how could you dare to seize a lady by force? Turn back, O prince—it does not befit you to flee! How can you abandon your followers in the midst of your enemies?' ॥ 3-255-58 ॥
english translation
इत्य उच्यमानः पार्थेन सैधवॊ न नयवर्तत तिष्ठ तिष्ठेति तं भीमः सहसाभ्यद्रवद बली मा वधीर इति पार्थस तं दयावान अभ्यभाषत ॥ ३-२५५-५९ ॥
'Though urged by the sons of Pritha, the Sindhu prince did not turn back even once. Then, as the mighty Bhima swiftly caught up with him, Arjuna, moved by compassion, entreated him not to slay the wretch.' ॥ 3-255-59 ॥
