यं षट सहस्रा रथिनॊ ऽनुयान्ति; नागा हयाश चैव पदातिनश च जयद्रथॊ नाम यदि शरुतस ते; सौवीरराजः सुभगे स एषः ॥ ३-२४९-११ ॥
'And if, O noble lady, you have ever heard the name of Jayadratha, The mighty king of the Sauvīras—he stands there, At the head of six thousand chariots, With cavalry, elephants, and infantry in his wake.' ॥ 3-249-11 ॥

तस्यापरे भरातरॊ ऽदीनसत्त्वा; बलाहकानीक विदारणाध्याः सौवीरवीराः परवरा युवानॊ; राजानम एते बलिनॊ ऽनुयान्ति ॥ ३-२४९-१२ ॥
'The king’s brothers, too—Valāhaka, Anika, Vidāraṇa, and others— Stand among his followers, powerful and fearless. These strong-limbed and noble youths Are the finest warriors of the Sauvīra chivalry.' ॥ 3-249-12 ॥

एतैः सहायैर उपयाति राजा; मरुद्गणैर इन्द्र इवाभिगुप्तः अजानतां खयापय नः सुकेशि; कस्यासि भार्या दुहिता च कस्य ॥ ३-२४९-१३ ॥
'Like Indra surrounded by the Maruts, The king journeys in their company. O lady with tresses fine as silk, Tell us truly—for we are unacquainted— Whose wife and whose daughter you are.' ॥ 3-249-13 ॥
