[वै] अथाब्रवीद दरौपदी राजपुत्री; पृष्टा शिबीनां परवरेण तेन अ अवेक्ष्य मन्दं परविमुच्य शाखां; संगृह्णती कौशिकम उत्तरीयम ॥ ३-२५०-१ ॥
'Vaiśampāyana continued: The princess Draupadī, thus questioned by that foremost scion of the Śibi race, Gently cast her gaze around, Released her hold on the Kadamba branch, And gracefully adjusted her silken attire.' ॥ 3-250-1 ॥
english translation
बुद्ध्याभिजानामि नरेन्द्रपुत्र; न मादृशी तवाम अभिभाष्टुम अर्हा न तवेह वक्तास्ति तवेह वाक्यम; अन्यॊ नरॊ वाप्य अथ वापि नारी ॥ ३-२५०-२ ॥
'She said: "I know, O prince, that it is not proper For one like me to address you in this manner. But since there is no other man or woman here To speak with you, I must do so."' ॥ 3-250-2 ॥
english translation
एका हय अहं संप्रति तेन वाचं; दद्दानि वै भद्र निबॊध चेदम अहं हय अरण्ये कथम एकम एका; तवाम आलपेयं निरता सवधर्मे ॥ ३-२५०-३ ॥
'As I am alone here at this moment, I must speak. But know, O noble sir, that being unaccompanied in this forest, I should not address you, mindful of the customs of my sex.' ॥ 3-250-3 ॥

जानामि च तवां सुरथस्य पुत्रं; यं कॊटिकाश्येति विदुर मनुष्याः तस्माद अहं शैब्य तथैव तुभ्यम; आख्यामि बन्धून परति तन निबॊध ॥ ३-२५०-४ ॥
'I have come to know, O Śaibya, that you are the son of Suratha, Whom people recognize by the name Kotika. Therefore, I shall now tell you of my lineage And the noble race to which I belong.' ॥ 3-250-4 ॥

अपत्यम अस्मि दरुपदस्य राज्ञः; कृष्णेति मां शैब्य दिवुर मनुष्याः साहं वृणे पञ्चजनान पतित्वे; ये खाण्डव परस्थगताः शरुतास ते ॥ ३-२५०-५ ॥
'I am the daughter of King Drupada, And people know me by the name Kṛṣṇā. I have accepted as my husbands five warriors, Of whom you may have heard while they dwelled in Khāṇḍavaprastha.' ॥ 3-250-5 ॥
