इत्य उक्त्वा स मुनिर वाक्यं देवदूतं विसृज्य तम शिलॊञ्छ वृत्तिम उत्सृज्य शमम आतिष्ठद उत्तमाम ॥ ३-२४७-४१ ॥
'Having spoken these words, the sage, after dismissing the divine messenger, abandoned his livelihood of gleaning grains and established himself in supreme peace.' ॥ 3-247-41 ॥
english translation
तुल्यनिन्दास्तुतिर भूत्वा समलॊष्टाश्मकाञ्चनः जञानयॊगेन शुद्धेन धयाननित्यॊ बभूव ह ॥ ३-२४७-४२ ॥
'He became one to whom praise and blame were equal, to whom a clod of earth, stone, and gold were the same. Through pure knowledge and yoga, he remained ever absorbed in meditation.' ॥ 3-247-42 ॥
english translation
धयानयॊगाद बलं लब्ध्वा पराप्य चर्द्धिम अनुत्तमाम जगाम शाश्वतीं सिद्धिं परां निर्वाणलक्षणाम ॥ ३-२४७-४३ ॥
'By dedicating himself to the path of Brahma through meditation, Mudgala became constantly immersed in the practice. Gaining strength through wisdom and perfecting his understanding, he reached the highest state of liberation, which is known as the Eternal, unchanging emancipation.' ॥ 3-247-43 ॥
english translation
तस्मात तवम अपि कौन्तेय न शॊकं कर्तुम अर्हसि राज्यात सफीतात परिभ्रष्टस तपसा तद अवाप्स्यसि ॥ ३-२४७-४४ ॥
'Therefore, O son of Kunti, you should not grieve. Though you have been deprived of a prosperous kingdom, through your ascetic austerities, you shall surely regain it.' ॥ 3-247-44 ॥

सुखस्यानन्तरं दुःखं दुःखस्यानन्तरं सुखम पर्यायेणॊपवर्तन्ते नरं नेमिम अरा इव ॥ ३-२४७-४५ ॥
'Misery follows happiness, and happiness follows misery, revolving in turns around a person, much like the point on the circumference of a wheel revolves around its axle.' ॥ 3-247-45 ॥
