[देवदूत] महर्षे ऽकार्यबुद्धिस तवं यः सवर्गसुखम उत्तमम संप्राप्तं बहु मन्तव्यं विमृशस्य अबुधॊ यथा ॥ ३-२४७-१ ॥
'O great sage, you show a lack of wisdom, for even after attaining the celestial bliss that brings the highest honor, you continue to hesitate like one who is unwise.' ॥ 3-247-1 ॥
english translation
[devadUta] maharSe 'kAryabuddhisa tavaM yaH savargasukhama uttamama saMprAptaM bahu mantavyaM vimRzasya abudhò yathA ॥ 3-247-1 ॥
hk transliteration by SanscriptO Muni, the region known as heaven lies above us, rising high with splendid pathways- It is ever traversed by celestial chariots, radiant and divine-

'Those who are atheistic, untruthful, devoid of ascetic austerities, or who have not performed great sacrifices cannot reach that sacred realm.' ॥ 3-247-3 ॥

nAtapta tapasaH puMsò nAmahA yajJayAjinaH nAnRtA nAstikAza caiva tatra gacchanti mudgala ॥ 3-247-3 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptधर्मात्मानॊ जितात्मानः शान्ता दान्ता विमत्सराः दानधर्मरताः पुंसः शूराश चाहतलक्षणाः ॥ ३-२४७-४ ॥
'Only those of virtuous soul, who have mastered their spirit and senses, who are free from malice, devoted to charity, and steadfast in righteousness—such men, along with valiant heroes bearing the marks of battle, attain those celestial realms.' ॥ 3-247-4 ॥

dharmAtmAnò jitAtmAnaH zAntA dAntA vimatsarAH dAnadharmaratAH puMsaH zUrAza cAhatalakSaNAH ॥ 3-247-4 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतत्र गच्छन्ति कर्माग्र्यं कृत्वा शम दमात्मकम लॊकान पुण्यकृतां बरह्मन सद्भिर आसेवितान नृभिः ॥ ३-२४७-५ ॥
'O Brahmana, these regions, inhabited by the pious, can be reached only through the highest acts of virtue and merit.' ॥ 3-247-5 ॥

tatra gacchanti karmAgryaM kRtvA zama damAtmakama lòkAna puNyakRtAM barahmana sadbhira AsevitAna nRbhiH ॥ 3-247-5 ॥
