[दुर] चित्रसेनं समागम्य परहसन्न अर्जुनस तदा इदं वचनम अक्लीबम अब्रवीत परवीरहा ॥ ३-२३८-१ ॥
'Duryodhana said, 'That vanquisher of mighty warriors, Arjuna, approached Chitrasena and, with a smile, spoke these bold words:'' ॥ 3-238-1 ॥
english translation
[dura] citrasenaM samAgamya parahasanna arjunasa tadA idaM vacanama aklIbama abravIta paravIrahA ॥ 3-238-1 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptभरातॄन अर्हसि नॊ वीर मॊक्तुं गन्धर्वसत्तम अनर्हा धर्षणं हीमे जीवमानेषु पाण्डुषु ॥ ३-२३८-२ ॥
'O hero, O foremost of the Gandharvas, it is your duty to release my brothers. They are beyond reproach as long as the sons of Pandu live.' ॥ 3-238-2 ॥
english translation
bharAtRRna arhasi nò vIra mòktuM gandharvasattama anarhA dharSaNaM hIme jIvamAneSu pANDuSu ॥ 3-238-2 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptएवम उक्तस तु गन्धर्वः पाण्डवेन महात्मना उवाच यत कर्ण वयं मन्त्रयन्तॊ विनिर्गताः दरष्टारः सम सुखाद धीनान सदारान पाण्डवान इति ॥ ३-२३८-३ ॥
'Thus addressed by the illustrious son of Pandu, the chief of the Gandharvas, O Karna, revealed to the Pandavas the purpose of our visit: that we had come to behold the sons of Pandu with their wife, all plunged in sorrow.' ॥ 3-238-3 ॥
english translation
evama uktasa tu gandharvaH pANDavena mahAtmanA uvAca yata karNa vayaM mantrayantò vinirgatAH daraSTAraH sama sukhAda dhInAna sadArAna pANDavAna iti ॥ 3-238-3 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतस्मिन्न उच्चार्यमाणे तु गन्धर्वेण वचस्य अथ भूमेर विवरम अन्वैच्छं परवेष्टुं वरीडयान्वितः ॥ ३-२३८-४ ॥
'And as the Gandharva disclosed these plans, I was filled with such shame that I wished the earth would open up and swallow me, so I could vanish from that moment.' ॥ 3-238-4 ॥

tasminna uccAryamANe tu gandharveNa vacasya atha bhUmera vivarama anvaicchaM paraveSTuM varIDayAnvitaH ॥ 3-238-4 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptयुधिष्ठिरम अथागम्य गन्धर्वाः सह पाण्डवैः अस्मद दुर्मन्त्रितं तस्मै बद्धांश चास्मान नयवेदयन ॥ ३-२३८-५ ॥
'The Gandharvas, accompanied by the Pandavas, then went to Yudhishthira, revealing their counsel and delivering us, bound as we were, into his hands.' ॥ 3-238-5 ॥

yudhiSThirama athAgamya gandharvAH saha pANDavaiH asmada durmantritaM tasmai baddhAMza cAsmAna nayavedayana ॥ 3-238-5 ॥
