जानासि हि यथा कषत्ता दयूतकाल उपस्थिते अब्रवीद यच च मां तवां च सौबलं च वचस तदा ॥ ३-२२७-६ ॥
'You know the words that Kshatri spoke to me, to you, and to the son of Suvala, at the time of the match at dice!' ॥ 3-227-6 ॥
english translation
तानि पूर्वाणि वाक्यानि यच चान्यत परिदेवितम विचिन्त्य नाधिगच्छामि गमनायेतराय वा ॥ ३-२२७-७ ॥
'Reflecting upon all those words, as well as the lamentations (that he and others indulged in), I cannot make up my mind whether I should go or not!' ॥ 3-227-7 ॥
english translation
ममापि हि महान हर्षॊ यद अहं भीम फल्गुनौ कलिष्टाव अरण्ये पश्येयं कृष्णया सहिताव इति ॥ ३-२२७-८ ॥
'I shall certainly be highly pleased if I cast my eyes on Bhima and Phalguna, passing their days in pain with Krishna in the woods.' ॥ 3-227-8 ॥

न तथा पराप्नुयां परीतिम अवाप्य वसुधाम अपि दृष्ट्वा यथा पाण्डुसुतान वल्लकाजिन वाससः ॥ ३-२२७-९ ॥
'The joy that I may feel in obtaining the sovereignty of the entire earth is nothing compared to that which will be mine upon beholding the sons of Pandu attired in barks of trees and deer-skins.' ॥ 3-227-9 ॥

किं नु सयाद अधिकं तस्माद यद अहं दरुपदात्मजाम दरौपदीं कर्ण पश्येयं काषायवसनां वने ॥ ३-२२७-१० ॥
'What joy can be greater, O Karna, than the joy that will be mine upon beholding the daughter of Drupada dressed in red rags in the woods?' ॥ 3-227-10 ॥
