यदि मां धर्मराजश च भीमसेनश च पाण्डवः युक्तं परमया लक्ष्म्या पश्येतां जीवितं भवेत ॥ ३-२२७-११ ॥

'If King Yudhishthira and Bhima, the sons of Pandu, behold me graced with great affluence, then only shall I have attained the great end of my life!' ॥ 3-227-11 ॥

english translation

yadi mAM dharmarAjaza ca bhImasenaza ca pANDavaH yuktaM paramayA lakSmyA pazyetAM jIvitaM bhaveta ॥ 3-227-11 ॥

उपायं न तु पश्यामि येन गच्छेम तद वनम यथा चाभ्यनुजानीयाद गच्छन्तं मां महीपतिः ॥ ३-२२७-१२ ॥

'I do not, however, see the means by which I may repair to those woods, nor by which I may obtain the king's permission to go thither!' ॥ 3-227-12 ॥

upAyaM na tu pazyAmi yena gacchema tada vanama yathA cAbhyanujAnIyAda gacchantaM mAM mahIpatiH ॥ 3-227-12 ॥

स सौबलेन सहितस तथा दुःशासनेन च उपायं पश्य निपुणं येन गच्छेम तद वनम ॥ ३-२२७-१३ ॥

'Contrive thou, therefore, some skilful plan, with Suvala's son and Dussasana, by which we may go to those woods!' ॥ 3-227-13 ॥

sa saubalena sahitasa tathA duHzAsanena ca upAyaM pazya nipuNaM yena gacchema tada vanama ॥ 3-227-13 ॥

अहम अप्य अद्य निश्चित्य गमनायेतराय वा काल्यम एव गमिष्यामि समीपं पार्थिवस्य ह ॥ ३-२२७-१४ ॥

'I also, making up my mind today as to whether I should go or not, will approach the presence of the king tomorrow.' ॥ 3-227-14 ॥

ahama apya adya nizcitya gamanAyetarAya vA kAlyama eva gamiSyAmi samIpaM pArthivasya ha ॥ 3-227-14 ॥

'And when I shall be sitting with Bhishma—the best of the Kurus—you, with Sakuni, will propose the pretext you have contrived.' ॥ 3-227-15 ॥
