कथं नु सत्यः शुचिर आर्य वृत्तॊ; जयेष्ठः सुतानां मम धर्मराजः अजातशत्रुः पृथिवीतलस्थः; शेते पुरा राङ्कव कूटशायी ॥ ३-२२५-९ ॥
'The monarch then said, 'Alas, how is it that Yudhishthira, the eldest of my sons, who is truthful, pious, and virtuous, who has no enemy, and who once slept on soft Ranku skin beds, now sleeps on the bare ground!'' ॥ 3-225-9 ॥
