तासाम एव कुमारीणां पतयस ते परकीर्तिताः अज्ञायमाना हृज्णन्ति बालकान रौद्रकर्मिणः ॥ ३-२१९-३१ ॥
'The husbands of those young women are proclaimed, Unrecognized, they commit cruel acts, Stealing the children with fierce actions.' ॥ 3-219-31 ॥

गवां माता तु या पराज्ञैः कथ्यते सुरभिर नृप शकुनिस ताम अथारुह्य सह भुङ्क्ते शिशून भुवि ॥ ३-२१९-३२ ॥
'And, O king, Surabhi, who is called the mother of bovine kind by the wise, is best ridden by the evil spirit Sakuni, who, in her company, devours children on this earth.' ॥ 3-219-32 ॥

सरमा नाम या माता शुनां देवी जनाधिप सापि गर्भान समादत्ते मानुषीणां सदैव हि ॥ ३-२१९-३३ ॥
'And Sarama, the mother of dogs, also habitually devours human fetuses while still in the womb.' ॥ 3-219-33 ॥

पादपानां चया माता करञ्ज निलया हि सा करञ्जे तां नमस्यन्ति तस्मात पुत्रार्थिनॊ नराः ॥ ३-२१९-३४ ॥
'She, the mother of all trees, resides in the Karanja tree. She grants boons, with a serene countenance, always favorably disposed towards all creatures.' ॥ 3-219-34 ॥

इमे तव अष्टादशान्ये वै गरहा मांसमधु परियाः दविपञ्चरात्रं तिष्ठन्ति सततं सूतिका गृहे ॥ ३-२१९-३५ ॥
'Those who desire to have children bow down to her, who resides in the Karanja tree. These eighteen evil spirits, fond of meat and wine, along with others of the same kind, invariably dwell in the lying-in-room for ten days.' ॥ 3-219-35 ॥
