स तत्र विविधं हव्यं परतिगृह्य हुताशनः ऋषिभ्यॊ भरतश्रेष्ठ परायच्छत दिवौकसाम ॥ ३-२१३-४१ ॥
'Taking the various offerings there, the fire, the consumer of oblations, presented them to the Rishis, O best of the Bharatas, for the celestials.' ॥ 3-213-41 ॥
english translation
निष्क्रामंश चाप्य अपश्यत स पत्नीस तेषां महात्मनाम सवेष्व आश्रमेषूपविष्टाः सनायन्तीश च यथासुखम ॥ ३-२१३-४२ ॥
'While returning from that place, he observed the wives of those high-souled Rishis, resting peacefully on their beds.' ॥ 3-213-42 ॥
english translation
रुक्मवेदिनिभास तास तु चन्द्रलेखा इवामलाः हुताशनार्चि परतिमाः सर्वास तारा इवाद्भुताः ॥ ३-२१३-४३ ॥
'Their complexions were as beautiful as golden altars, spotless like moonbeams, resembling fiery flames, and shining like blazing stars.' ॥ 3-213-43 ॥
english translation
स तद्गतेन मनसा बभूव कषुभितेन्द्रियः पत्नीर दृष्ट्वा दविजेन्द्राणां वह्निः कामवशं ययौ ॥ ३-२१३-४४ ॥
'Seeing the wives of the illustrious Brahmanas with eager eyes, his mind became agitated, and he was struck by their charm. The fire, driven by passion, also followed suit.' ॥ 3-213-44 ॥

स भूयॊ चिन्तयाम आस न नयाय्यं कषुभितॊ ऽसमि यत साध्वीः पत्नीर दविजेन्द्राणाम अकामाः कामयाम्य अहम ॥ ३-२१३-४५ ॥
'Restraining his heart, he realized that it was improper for him to be so agitated. He reflected within himself, 'The wives of these great Brahmanas are chaste and faithful, beyond the reach of others' desires.'' ॥ 3-213-45 ॥
