भृशं जज्वाल तेजस्वी तपसाप्यायितः शिखी दृष्ट्वा ऋषीन भयाच चापि परविवेश महार्णवम ।। ३-२१२-१६ ।।

sanskrit

'The fire, having been gratified by their penance, blazed forth with intense brilliance. But upon seeing the Rishi (Atharvan), the fire once again sought refuge in the waters.' ।। 3-212-16 ।।

english translation

bhRzaM jajvAla tejasvI tapasApyAyitaH zikhI dRSTvA RSIna bhayAca cApi paraviveza mahArNavama || 3-212-16 ||

hk transliteration

तस्मिन नष्टे जगद भीतम अथर्वाणम अथाश्रितम अर्चयाम आसुर एवैनम अथर्वाणं सुरर्षयः ।। ३-२१२-१७ ।।

sanskrit

'At the extinction of the fire, the entire world was struck with fear and sought refuge in Atharvan. The gods and other beings began to worship him.' ।। 3-212-17 ।।

english translation

tasmina naSTe jagada bhItama atharvANama athAzritama arcayAma Asura evainama atharvANaM surarSayaH || 3-212-17 ||

hk transliteration

अथर्वा तव असृजल लॊकान आत्मनालॊक्य पावकम मिषतां सर्वभूतानाम उन्ममाथ महार्णवम ।। ३-२१२-१८ ।।

sanskrit

'Atharvan, in the presence of all those eager beings, searched through the entire sea. Upon finding the fire, he began the work of creation himself.' ।। 3-212-18 ।।

english translation

atharvA tava asRjala lòkAna AtmanAlòkya pAvakama miSatAM sarvabhUtAnAma unmamAtha mahArNavama || 3-212-18 ||

hk transliteration

एवम अग्निर भगवता नष्टः पूर्वम अथर्वणा आहूतः सर्वभूतानां हव्यं वहति सर्वदा ।। ३-२१२-१९ ।।

sanskrit

'Thus, in ancient times, the fire was destroyed and then revived by the venerable Atharvan. But now, it perpetually carries the oblations of all creatures.' ।। 3-212-19 ।।

english translation

evama agnira bhagavatA naSTaH pUrvama atharvaNA AhUtaH sarvabhUtAnAM havyaM vahati sarvadA || 3-212-19 ||

hk transliteration

एवं तव अजनयद धिष्ण्यान वेदॊक्तान विबुधान बहून विचरन विविधान देशान भरममाणस तु तत्र वै ।। ३-२१२-२० ।।

sanskrit

'Living in the sea and travelling through various lands, he brought forth the various fires as mentioned in the Vedas.' ।। 3-212-20 ।।

english translation

evaM tava ajanayada dhiSNyAna vedòktAna vibudhAna bahUna vicarana vividhAna dezAna bharamamANasa tu tatra vai || 3-212-20 ||
