अनिष्ट संप्रयॊगाच च विप्रयॊगात परियस्य च मानुषा मानसैर दुःखैर युज्यन्ते अल्पबुद्धयः ॥ ३-२०६-१६ ॥
'People of low intelligence are overwhelmed with grief when something unfavorable happens to them, or when something good or greatly desired does not occur.' ॥ 3-206-16 ॥
english translation
गुणैर भूतानि युज्यन्ते वियुज्यन्ते तथैव च सर्वाणि नैतद एकस्य शॊकस्थानं हि विद्यते ॥ ३-२०६-१७ ॥
'All beings are united and separated by their qualities/nature, This is not a cause for sorrow for anyone (as it is the natural way).' ॥ 3-206-17 ॥
english translation
अनिष्टेनान्वितं पश्यंस तथा कषिप्रं विरज्यते ततश च परतिकुर्वन्ति यदि पश्यन्त्य उपक्रमम शॊचतॊ न भवेत किं चित केवलं परितप्यते ॥ ३-२०६-१८ ॥
'When one sees something undesirable, they quickly become detached, And then they retaliate if they see an opportunity. Nothing comes from grieving - it only leads to suffering.' ॥ 3-206-18 ॥
english translation
परित्यजन्ति ये दुःखं सुखं वाप्य उभयं नराः त एव सुखम एधन्ते जञानतृप्ता मनीषिणः ॥ ३-२०६-१९ ॥
'Those wise men, whose knowledge has made them happy and contented, and who are indifferent to both happiness and misery, are truly happy.' ॥ 3-206-19 ॥
english translation
असंतॊष परा मूढाः संतॊषं यान्ति पण्डिताः असंतॊषस्य नास्त्य अन्तस तुष्टिस तु परमं सुखम न शॊचन्ति गताध्वानः पश्यन्तः परमां गतिम ॥ ३-२०६-२० ॥
'The wise are always content, while the foolish are perpetually discontent. There is no end to discontentment, whereas contentment is the highest form of happiness. Those who have reached the ultimate path do not grieve; they are always aware of the final destiny of all beings.' ॥ 3-206-20 ॥
