बराह्मणः पतनीयेषु वर्तमानॊ विकर्मसु दाम्भिकॊ दुष्कृतप्रायः शूद्रेण सदृशॊ भवेत ॥ ३-२०६-११ ॥
'A Brahmana who is vain and haughty, addicted to vices, and wedded to evil and degrading practices, is akin to a Shudra.' ॥ 3-206-11 ॥
english translation
यस तु शूद्रॊ दमे सत्ये धर्मे च सततॊत्थितः तं बराह्मणम अहं मन्ये वृत्तेन हि भवेद दविजः ॥ ३-२०६-१२ ॥
'On the other hand, I consider a Shudra who is always adorned with virtues such as righteousness, self-restraint, and truthfulness, to be a Brahmana. A man becomes a Brahmana by his character.' ॥ 3-206-12 ॥
english translation
कर्म दॊषेण विषमा गतिम आप्नॊति दारुणाम कषीणदॊषम अहं मन्ये चाभितस तवां नरॊत्तम ॥ ३-२०६-१३ ॥
'By his own evil karma, a man attains a dreadful and terrible fate. O good man, I believe that the sin within you has now been eradicated.' ॥ 3-206-13 ॥
english translation
कर्तुम अर्हसि नॊत्कण्ठां तवद्विधा हय अविषादिनः लॊकवृत्तान्तवृत्तज्ञा नित्यं धर्मपरायणाः ॥ ३-२०६-१४ ॥
'Thou must not grieve for this, for men like thee, who art virtuous and learned in the ways and mysteries of the world, have no cause for sorrow.' ॥ 3-206-14 ॥
english translation
[वयध] परज्ञया मानसं दुःखं हन्याच छारीरम औषधैः एतद विज्ञानसामर्थ्यं न बालैः समतां वरजेत ॥ ३-२०६-१५ ॥
'The fowler replied, "Bodily afflictions should be treated with medicines, while mental afflictions are best cured through spiritual wisdom. This is the power of knowledge. Understanding this, the wise should not act like children."' ॥ 3-206-15 ॥
