[वयाध] न जीवनाशॊ ऽसति हि देहभेदे; मिथ्यैतद आहुर मरियतेति मूढाः जीवस तु देहान्तरितः परयाति; दशार्धतैवास्य शरीरभेदः ।। ३-२००-२६ ।।

sanskrit

'The fowler replied, "The spirit does not die; it merely undergoes a change of abode. Those who foolishly claim that all creatures die are mistaken. The soul moves into a new body, and this transition is what is termed 'death.'' ।। 3-200-26 ।।

english translation

[vayAdha] na jIvanAzò 'sati hi dehabhede; mithyaitada Ahura mariyateti mUDhAH jIvasa tu dehAntaritaH parayAti; dazArdhataivAsya zarIrabhedaH || 3-200-26 ||

अन्यॊ हि नाश्नाति कृतं हि कर्म; स एव कर्ता सुखदुःखभागी यत तेन किं चिद धि कृतं हि कर्म; तद अश्नुते नास्ति कृतस्य नाशः ।। ३-२००-२७ ।।

'In the realm of humans, no one reaps the consequences of another's karma. Whatever one does, he is certain to reap the consequences of it; for the results of actions once performed can never be avoided.' ।। 3-200-27 ।।

anyò hi nAznAti kRtaM hi karma; sa eva kartA sukhaduHkhabhAgI yata tena kiM cida dhi kRtaM hi karma; tada aznute nAsti kRtasya nAzaH || 3-200-27 ||

अपुण्य शीलाश च भवन्ति पुण्या; नरॊत्तमाः पापकृतॊ भवन्ति नरॊ ऽनुयातस तव इह कर्मभिः सवैस; ततः समुत्पद्यति भावितस तैः ।। ३-२००-२८ ।।

'The virtuous acquire great virtues, while sinful individuals become the perpetrators of wicked deeds. A man's actions follow him, and influenced by these, he is reborn.' ।। 3-200-28 ।।

apuNya zIlAza ca bhavanti puNyA; naròttamAH pApakRtò bhavanti narò 'nuyAtasa tava iha karmabhiH savaisa; tataH samutpadyati bhAvitasa taiH || 3-200-28 ||

'The Brahmana inquired, "Why does the spirit take birth, and why does its birth become either sinful or virtuous? How, O good man, does it come to belong to a sinful or virtuous lineage?"' ।। 3-200-29 ।।

[barA] kathaM saMbhavate yònau kathaM vA puNyapApayòH jAtIH puNyA haya apuNyAza ca kathaM gacchati sattama || 3-200-29 ||
