अर्थस्यॊपार्जने दुःखं पालने च कषये तथा नाशे दुःखं वयये दुःखं घनन्ति चैवार्थ कारणात ॥ ३-२-४२ ॥

sanskrit

'People endure countless sufferings in acquiring and retaining wealth, and even its expenditure is accompanied by grief. Sometimes, life itself is sacrificed for the sake of wealth.' ॥ 3-2-42 ॥

english translation

arthasyòpArjane duHkhaM pAlane ca kaSaye tathA nAze duHkhaM vayaye duHkhaM ghananti caivArtha kAraNAta ॥ 3-2-42 ॥
