कार्पण्यं दर्पमानौ च भयम उद्वेग एव च अर्थजानि विदुः पराज्ञा दुःखान्य एतानि देहिनाम ॥ ३-२-४१ ॥

sanskrit

'Wealth is the root of miserliness, boastfulness, pride, fear, and anxiety. The wise recognize these as the true miseries associated with riches.' ॥ 3-2-41 ॥

english translation

kArpaNyaM darpamAnau ca bhayama udvega eva ca arthajAni viduH parAjJA duHkhAnya etAni dehinAma ॥ 3-2-41 ॥
