उपविष्टाः शयानाश च घनन्ति जीवान अनेकशः जञानविज्ञानवन्तश च तत्र किं परतिभाति ते ॥ ३-१९९-२६ ॥
'Even those who are wise and enlightened destroy animal life in various ways, sometimes even while sleeping or resting. What do you have to say about this?' ॥ 3-199-26 ॥
english translation
जीवैर गरस्तम इदं सर्वम आकाशं पृथिवी तथा अविज्ञानाच च हिंसन्ति तत्र किं परतिभाति ते ॥ ३-१९९-२७ ॥
'The earth and the air are teeming with living organisms, which are unconsciously destroyed by men out of ignorance. Is this not so?' ॥ 3-199-27 ॥
english translation
अहिंसेति यद उक्तं हि पुरुषैर विस्मितैः पुरा के न हिंसन्ति जीवन वै लॊके ऽसमिन दविजसत्तम बहु संचिन्त्य इह वै नास्ति कश चिद अहिंसकः ॥ ३-१९९-२८ ॥
'The commandment that people should not harm any creature was established long ago by those who were unaware of the true facts. For, O Brahmana, there is not a single person on this earth who is free from the sin of causing injury to living beings. Upon careful reflection, it becomes clear that no one is truly free from the sin of harming animal life.' ॥ 3-199-28 ॥
english translation
अहिंसायां तु निरता यतयॊ दविजसत्तम कुर्वन्त्य एव हि हिंसां ते यत्नाद अल्पतरा भवेत ॥ ३-१९९-२९ ॥
'Even the sage, O noble Brahmana, whose vow is to harm no creature, still inflicts injury upon animal life. However, due to greater necessity, the harm is minimal.' ॥ 3-199-29 ॥
english translation
आलक्ष्याश चैव पुरुषाः कुले जाता महागुणाः महाघॊराणि कर्माणि कृत्वा लज्जन्ति वै न च ॥ ३-१९९-३० ॥
'Men of noble birth and great qualities commit wicked acts with complete disregard, and they are in no way ashamed of them.' ॥ 3-199-30 ॥
