बाढम इत्य एव संहृष्टॊ विप्रॊ वचनम अब्रवीत अग्रतस तु दविजं कृत्वा स जगाम गरहान परति ॥ ३-१९८-१६ ॥
'Markandeya continued, 'So be it,' said the Brahmana unto him gladly. Thereupon, the fowler proceeded towards his home with the Brahmana walking before him.' ॥ 3-198-16 ॥
english translation
परविश्य च गृहं रम्यम आसनेनाभिपूजितः पाद्यम आचमनीयं च परतिगृह्य दविजॊत्तमः ॥ ३-१९८-१७ ॥
'Upon entering his delightful abode, the fowler reverenced his guest by offering him a seat. And he also gave him water to wash his feet and face.' ॥ 3-198-17 ॥
english translation
ततः सुखॊपविष्टस तं वयाधं वचनम अब्रवीत कर्मैतद वै न सदृशं भवतः परतिभाति मे अनुतप्ये भृशं तात तव घॊरेण कर्मणा ॥ ३-१९८-१८ ॥
'And accepting these, that best of Brahmanas sat at his ease. He then addressed the fowler, saying, 'It seems to me that this profession doth not befit thee. O fowler, I deeply regret that thou shouldst follow such a cruel trade.'' ॥ 3-198-18 ॥
english translation
[वयाध] कुलॊचितम इदं कर्म पितृपैतामहं मम वर्तमानस्य मे धर्मे सवे मन्युं मा कृथा दविज ॥ ३-१९८-१९ ॥
'At these words of the Brahmana, the fowler said, 'This profession is that of my family, inherited from my sires and grandsires. O regenerate one, grieve not for me owing to my adherence to the duties that belong to me by birth.' ॥ 3-198-19 ॥
english translation
धात्रा तु विहितं पूर्वं कर्म सवं पालयाम्य अहम परयत्नाच च गुरू वृद्धौ शुश्रूषे ऽहं दविजॊत्तम ॥ ३-१९८-२० ॥
'Discharging the duties ordained for me beforehand by the Creator, I carefully serve my superiors and the old. O thou best of Brahmanas!' ॥ 3-198-20 ॥
