करॊधः शत्रुः शरीरस्थॊ मनुष्याणां दविजॊत्तम यः करॊधमॊहौ तयजति तं देवा बराह्मणं विदुः ॥ ३-१९७-३१ ॥
'But, O foremost of the regenerate, the anger a person harbors is their greatest foe. The gods recognize as a true Brahmana one who has abandoned both anger and passion.' ॥ 3-197-31 ॥
english translation
karòdhaH zatruH zarIrasthò manuSyANAM davijòttama yaH karòdhamòhau tayajati taM devA barAhmaNaM viduH ॥ 3-197-31 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptयॊ वदेद इह सत्यानि गुरुं संतॊषयेत च हिंसितश च न हिंसेत तं देवा बराह्मणं विदुः ॥ ३-१९७-३२ ॥
'The gods recognize him as a true Brahmana who consistently speaks the truth, honors and gratifies his preceptor, and, even when wronged, refrains from seeking revenge.' ॥ 3-197-32 ॥
english translation
yò vadeda iha satyAni guruM saMtòSayeta ca hiMsitaza ca na hiMseta taM devA barAhmaNaM viduH ॥ 3-197-32 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptजितेन्द्रियॊ धर्मपरः सवाध्यायनिरतः शुचिः कामक्रॊधौ वशे यस्य तं देवा बराह्मणं विदुः ॥ ३-१९७-३३ ॥
'The gods know him to be a Brahmana who has mastery over his senses, is virtuous and pure, devoted to the study of the Vedas, and has control over both anger and desire.' ॥ 3-197-33 ॥
english translation
jitendriyò dharmaparaH savAdhyAyanirataH zuciH kAmakròdhau vaze yasya taM devA barAhmaNaM viduH ॥ 3-197-33 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptयस्य चात्मसमॊ लॊकॊ धर्मज्ञस्य मनस्विनः सर्वधर्मेषु च रतस तं देवा बराह्मणं विदुः ॥ ३-१९७-३४ ॥
'The gods recognize him as a Brahmana who, knowing the principles of morality and endowed with mental strength, follows all religions and treats all beings as equal to himself.' ॥ 3-197-34 ॥
english translation
yasya cAtmasamò lòkò dharmajJasya manasvinaH sarvadharmeSu ca ratasa taM devA barAhmaNaM viduH ॥ 3-197-34 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptयॊ ऽधयापयेद अधीयीत यजेद वा याजयीत वा दद्याद वापि यथाशक्ति तं देवा बराह्मणं विदुः ॥ ३-१९७-३५ ॥
'The gods recognize him as a Brahmana who not only engages in self-study and teaches others, but also performs sacrifices for himself and officiates at others' sacrifices, generously giving to the best of his ability.' ॥ 3-197-35 ॥

yò 'dhayApayeda adhIyIta yajeda vA yAjayIta vA dadyAda vApi yathAzakti taM devA barAhmaNaM viduH ॥ 3-197-35 ॥
